The album does include 17 of his biggest hits, including 11 No. Host Mark McEwen cracks some not-very-funny jokes, and Rogers tells some well-worn stories. There's almost as much talk as music on the CD (which has also been released in DVD and VHS formats), and much of the talk isn't very interesting. ![]() It doesn't, however, make for a very good audio album, which must stand up to repeated listenings, and that's the problem with "Kenny Rogers Live by Request." It makes for good television, because it's fun to watch a singer and a band respond instantly to an unexpected song title on live TV. ![]() "Live by Request" is a recurring TV special on the A&E Network where a veteran performer fields requests over the phone from fans.
